Today, Laura works closely with principal contractors and housing associations. Working at the front end of business,  Laura always follows her ethos of “do what you say you’re going to do and when you say you’re going to do it by”.

Combining his passion for modernising the industry through digitisation, a deep knowledge of BIM standards and processes, and pragmatic and engaging communication style, John has become one of the most recognisable BIM evangelists.

Asset information models: Unlocking the value of BIM for asset owners

That BIM model you got handed over at the end of construction, probably cost you a million pounds. As useful as it was in construction, its value in operation could be worth 10x your investment. But as soon as you take control of your property, part of it becomes out of date, rendering it unreliable and eventually useless.

You employ a property manager to maintain the asset, so it makes sense to employ a digital property manager to maintain the digital asset.

This session will show you, the asset owner, how you can manage your investment in BIM and unlock its true potential in enabling compliance, optimised maintenance, operation, less downtime, shorter periods between tenants and being the foundation of your Smart Building strategy.

Panel Session: Strategies for Successfully Delivering Smart Buildings

Glider’s Head of Product, John Adams will be joining an expert panel to discuss optimal strategies for delivering smart buildings.

John will be joining representatives from Kier, Hoare Lea and ScanTech Digital to discuss their involvement in the Smart Building Overlay to the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Plan of Work. 

The RIBA Plan of Work is a platform that is used by designers, contractors, project and cost managers, developers, and estate owners. Its application across a range of project sizes and complexity and focus on outcomes and timely decisions allows the guidance for smart buildings to be aligned with other disciplines, particularly through the  specification and design stage.

The case for information management

Amongst the excitement about digital twins and smart building technologies, and the intense activity needed to satisfy the Building Safety Act, the foundation stone of high quality information management risks being overlooked. This not only risks slipping back on of the great work which led to the UK being regarded as an international leader in BIM, but it will also undermine significant efforts made to structure key industry data and digitise asset lifecycle processes.

In this session, John will make the case for continued focus and effort in implementing the Information Management Mandate from the way we design, build and operate our built environment to the exciting digital future for asset owners. He’ll demonstrate how structured information can help to improve the efficient running of a complex estate with real life examples from some of Glider’s customers.
