Company Updates:
EDocuments is now Glider Nexus

One name for the platform, the team behind it and the way we work with your building information

Glider Technology acquired EDocuments in September 2024. Since then, we have brought the two businesses together carefully, combining the strengths of each rather than moving quickly and unsettling the customers and teams who depend on them. The EDocuments name now retires after 25 years, and the platform becomes Glider Nexus.

For the people using it, this is a change of name rather than a change of system. Glider Nexus is the same platform, holding the same information, supported by the same people.

What is changing for EDocuments users

The EDocuments platform is now known as Glider Nexus.

You will see Glider branding across the platform and in communications from us.

Our email domains have moved to glidernexus.io, so it is worth asking your IT team to allow messages from that domain.

What is staying the same

For users of the EDocuments platform, there is no migration and nothing you need to do. Your access is unchanged. Your data, document structures and workflows are unchanged. The way the system is used day to day is unchanged, and the people you deal with are the same people you dealt with last week.

Why EDocuments is becoming Glider Nexus

Our focus as a single business is Asset Intelligence. Asset Intelligence is the discipline that ensures the people responsible for buildings can find, trust and act on the information they need to keep them safe, compliant and performing. It is something organisations practise rather than something they buy, and it applies across the whole life of a building rather than at a single project or handover.

EDocuments spent 25 years making sure structured digital handover and O&M information reached the people who operate buildings. Glider has spent the last decade working on asset information across some of the UK’s most complex estates. Under one name, that handover expertise sits alongside information governance and asset management within one team, working to the same discipline.

What Glider Nexus is, and what it is not

Glider Nexus is the EDocuments platform under a new name. It is not a replacement system, and it is not a migration exercise dressed up as a rebrand. It is the same platform you already use, continuing to develop as part of a larger business.

The information problem Glider Nexus is built to address

Most organisations hold a great deal of information about their buildings and can confidently act on far less of it. We call that distance the Performance Gap, and it shows up in four conditions.

  • Information fragments through operational life, as fit-outs, contract changes and FM re-procurements accumulate over the years.
  • Information was never created in structured form in the first place.
  • Information is buried in the volume, present and correct but effectively unavailable to the person who needs it on a Tuesday afternoon.
  • Information is lost at handover.

Most estates live with the first two far more often than the last, which is why recovering information across existing buildings matters as much as getting new projects right.

The cost of that gap is rarely a single dramatic failure. It looks like surveys commissioned for information the organisation already owns, compliance questions that take days to answer, and decisions made on drawings nobody is quite willing to trust.

What happens next with Glider Nexus

Glider Nexus will keep developing in line with what our customers and the wider industry need from it. We are investing in both its capability and its user experience, and over time we will bring our products closer together into a single platform, combining Glider Nexus with functionality from gliderbim.

What is worth doing now

Nothing is required of you, but a few small things will save confusion. Ask your IT team to allow email from glidernexus.io so that platform notifications are not quietly filtered.

Let colleagues who only use the platform occasionally know that the name has changed, since they are the most likely to see an unfamiliar login screen and assume something is wrong. If your internal documentation, induction material or contract records name EDocuments, they will need updating at some point, though there is no urgency to it.

One name, one team, one discipline

A name on a login screen is a small thing on its own. What sits behind this one is a single team accountable for your building information from the point it is specified to the point somebody needs it twenty years later, which is a longer commitment than any rebrand.
