Protecting the future of built assets

We are Glider

Welcome to Glider, the creator of Asset Intelligence, the discipline that ensures the people responsible for buildings can find, trust and act on the information they need to keep them safe, compliant and performing.

We work with organisations across the built environment to improve how asset information is defined, produced, governed and used across the lifecycle, helping turn information into a reliable foundation for better decisions.

As both practitioners and advocates of the discipline, we are committed to developing open frameworks and practical approaches that enable the industry to adopt and apply Asset Intelligence at scale.

Our history

Glider timeline

Glider was founded in April 2016 by Nick Hutchinson and Steve Rukuts, who met while working at a consultancy that specialised in the commissioning and handover of information on complex building projects. Driven by a shared vision to revolutionise the built environment, they launched Glider. The UK government’s “BIM Level 2” mandate came into effect shortly after, perfectly timed with the release of gliderbim®. The platform was ground-breaking, offering an unprecedented ability to define and check asset information requirements automatically. Since then, gliderbim® has evolved into a comprehensive lifecycle information management platform, supported by expert services.

In March 2024, Glider partnered with Cow Corner, a private equity business, to accelerate our growth through a significant investment. This led to the acquisition of EDocuments in September 2024, bringing together complementary expertise in structured asset data and digital documentation.

Since then, the two teams have worked as one to develop a unified platform called Glider Nexus.

Glider Nexus has been designed to support organisations across the entire lifecycle, bringing together the definition, capture, governance, delivery and use of asset information in a single system. It enables a consistent approach across both the Create and Recover pathways, helping clients apply Asset Intelligence in practice  whether delivering new assets or improving existing estates.

This evolution reflects a broader shift in the industry from managing information at handover to ensuring it remains reliable, usable and valuable in operation. Glider Nexus is built to support that shift, providing a platform that enables organisations to find, trust and act on their asset information at any point in the lifecycle.
