Case Study:
Alconbury Civic Headquarters
Alconbury Civic Headquarters is a 3,600 m² BREEAM “Excellent” facility for Cambridge County Council, designed to minimise the council’s carbon footprint while providing a modern, flexible workspace. To support the building’s ongoing operation, the Glider handover platform was used to deliver a structured, digital handover, providing accurate, validated asset information, MEP O&M manuals, and an automated asset register ensuring the FM team has reliable, up-to-date data from day one.

Client requirements
The Alconbury Civic Headquarters accommodates 350 desks, flexible breakout areas, formal meeting rooms, a public reception, a multi-purpose function room for council meetings and political group meeting rooms. The car park includes over 20 spaces with electric vehicle charging points and infrastructure ready to extend charging across all spaces in the future.
To manage all this, the council required a robust handover solution to provide accurate, approved information. This included the Health & Safety File, O&M manuals, Building Logbook, BREEAM user guide and an automated asset register. The data also needed to be validated, standardised, and easily updateable throughout the building’s lifecycle.
Project scope
Using client-approved templates, the Glider handover platform enabled the collation of all project handover information, working closely with the supply chain, professional team, and the client. The technical team authored the MEP O&M manuals on behalf of the MEP contractor, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and consistency across all data.
Key processes
Built-in reporting tools allowed all reviews and approvals to be carried out online, keeping stakeholders fully informed with real-time progress updates from project level down to individual assets. This ensured that the information delivered was complete, auditable, and easy to use.
Key outcomes
By keeping all project information live online through the Glider handover platform, the council maintains searchable, up-to-date, and usable data that can be easily shared across teams. The approach has helped streamline operations, improve asset management, and support long-term facility management.
