Client requirements

This state-of-the-art facility required accurate, structured handover information to ensure long-term operational efficiency. From design through construction to handover, the client needed project data to be progressively developed so that FM teams could access useful, validated information. Integration with BIM was also essential, enabling the client to minimise lifecycle costs and reduce disruption during both planned and unplanned maintenance.

Project scope

The Glider handover platform was selected to provide an intuitive, construction-specific solution tailored to the client’s needs. The platform enabled project handover information to be collated within a controlled environment, ensuring data followed a defined and auditable production process. Predefined and customisable templates, flexible workflows and user management tools made implementation fast and cost-effective, while ensuring clarity and consistency across all project data.

Key processes

Throughout the project, data from BIM models, technical submissions and supply chain documentation was collected, monitored and validated using the platform’s reporting tools. Stakeholder consultations ensured all information was reviewed and approved prior to handover, with a full audit trail in place.

At handover, assets were QR coded, giving FM teams in-the-field access to specific manufacturer information for maintenance and servicing. Asset data was also transferred into the client’s chosen CAFM system to support ongoing operations. To support adoption, workshops were delivered to guide the client through the process, ensuring teams were confident in accessing and managing the information.

Key outcomes

The Glider handover platform enabled the Francis Crick Institute to achieve a seamless digital handover, giving FM teams immediate access to accurate, validated and user-friendly data. By embedding BIM integration, audit trails, and mobile-ready QR code access, the platform provided the client with a future proofed, efficient approach to asset management and lifecycle planning.
