ISO 19650 provides internationally agreed standards for information management using BIM. Broadly speaking, this suite of standards replaces the series of UK BIM Level 2 standards, although the work to replace the entire series is ongoing. The UK BIM Framework website hosts a brilliantly produced, and regularly updated set of guidance documents to the ISO19650 standards, which we recommend reading prior to reading the standards themselves.
An important element to note here is that these standards can be added to with national annexes, which are designed to additional national guidance than can be followed with the confidence of not conflicting with the core content. The UK National Annex contains a number of key elements of what used to be referred to as BIM Level 2, and this section should be read carefully when working on UK projects.
