Senior BIM Consultant

  • Full Time (40 hrs p/w Monday – Friday)

  • Salary £50-85k per annum (depending on experience)

  • Working from home (permanently)

  • 25 days annual leave (excluding bank holidays)

The Company

Established in 2016, Glider Technology (Glider) has a passion for Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Information Management, and because of this we develop and provide information management software and consultancy services to the AEC and asset management industries. 

Our Software as a Service (SaaS) is named gliderbim®, and is a new, unique brand of full lifecycle, asset information management software.  Our mission is to revolutionise how information is managed throughout design, construction and operation of the built environment.

The Glider team is made up of a diverse team of software engineers, BIM consultants, Information Managers, Project Managers, and Senior Management. All staff work from home and always will do, but we like to meet up on a regular basis for company briefings, team building, and general fun.

Job roles within Glider that are of a client-facing role will meet on a more regular basis as well as with customers for project-related or sales-related meetings. The majority of customer meetings are held at the clients own office and the frequency of meetings is individual to that project.

Job Overview

Glider Technology (Glider) are looking for an exceptional Senior BIM Consultant to join our growing team and to work with one of our major public sector clients. The involvement with this client relates to their ongoing roll out of our AIM CDE software, gliderbim® and their implementation of working practices around information management, so that they can achieve their digital aspirations with their current and future assets. You will be expected to support all elements of this roll out, the main items include:

  • AIM CDE system implementation support
  • Information Management Services
  • Development of requirements and designs for integrations with systems across the Federated Data Architecture
  • Reference Data Library management
  • Software design
  • Reality capture
  • Digital twins
  • Smart buildings and infrastructure
  • Data Quality and Dashboarding
  • Golden Thread management

The successful applicant will have a diverse workday and will be expected to be adaptable in their approach. The role will also be required to assist in the management of the project delivery lifecycle. A Senior BIM Consultant will be asked to provide consultancy services to understand and develop data requirements for customers and implement our product, gliderbim®. You will be expected to work closely with the current implementation team and other departments within Glider.

Responsibilities & Duties

A Senior BIM Consultant will be responsible for the following:

  • Working across multiple projects to provide the role of BIM Consultant.
  • Leading the development of content for BIM Strategies, Employer’s Information
    Requirements, Asset Information Requirements, and BIM Execution Plans (for bids and projects).
  • Supporting existing BIM Information Managers on their projects, where required.
  • Supporting BIM Managers on their projects, where required.
  • Supporting BIM Coordinators on their projects, where required.
  • Acting as a Project Manager on projects, where required, providing client liaison and
    reporting duties on behalf of the Digital team.
  • Working with the Contracts Director to ensure that projects are delivered in alignment with
    company Standards, Methods & Procedures (SMP’s)
  • Providing gliderbim® implementation, training and support services for customers.
  • Working with clients to define BIM requirements and BIM management strategies for
    design, construction and operation.
  • Working with the Board of Directors and Software Development Team to help improve all
    aspects of the gliderbim® software and Glider’s consultancy services.
  • Working with the Board of Directors and Software Development Team to help define the gliderbim® development roadmap.
  • Helping to train and mentor new members of the BIM team.
  • Managing the workloads and supervising more junior BIM Consultants as the team and
    company grows.
  • From time to time a Senior BIM Consultant will be expected to attend industry conferences and events on behalf of Glider.

In addition to their technical skills, a Senior BIM Consultant will sometimes be required to liaise with sales personnel to answer technical questions about the company’s products and services, and to work with support staff to help resolve complex customer issues.

Qualifications & Skill Requirements

Essential:

  • Prior experience of developing Employer’s (Clients) BIM strategies from beginning to end
  • Have an understanding of design, BIM and procurement, and its application in planning
  • and construction management
  • Have an understanding of BIM Competency Assessments of supply chains
  • Proven systematic approach to problem solving and model development protocols
  • Proven experience in multidisciplinary working practices and interdependencies
  • Proven client facing experience
  • Up to date knowledge of BIM technology and interoperability standards / good all round
  • technical knowledge and enthusiasm
  • Excellent organisational, time-management and people management skills

  • PAS1192(all), BS1192(all), ISO 19650 (all) & CIC BIM protocols
  • IFC and other commonly used data exchange formats
  • Common Data Environments
  • Model authoring software
